Who Calls Us for Rack Installation

Fit

  • You bought rack and need a crew. New or used, from a dealer or an online supplier, and the delivery is booked.
  • You need rack designed, supplied and installed. We lay it out in AutoCAD first, then install what we supply.
  • You are moving or re-laying rack you already own. We relocate and reconfigure.
  • You are adding density. A push back or pallet flow section inside an existing selective layout.

Can We Install Pallet Racking Ourselves?

Doing it yourself

You can. Plenty of warehouses do. The rack goes together with a mallet and a lift. The parts that go wrong are not the assembly:

  • The permit. Many Georgia jurisdictions require one above a set height, and high-piled storage brings in the fire marshal. A self-installed system often goes up without either, and it surfaces at the next insurance review or the next time you pull a permit for something else.
  • Anchoring and plumb. Both are specified by the manufacturer and the rack standard, and both are skipped more often than anything else.
  • The load plaques. Required, and rarely posted on a self-install.

If your team does the install, we can do the layout, the permit and a post-installation inspection instead.

What Drives the Cost

Pricing factors

Installation is priced on the work, not the steel. The main factors:

  • Number Of Positions And Levels

More beams and more height mean more lift time.

  • Height

Tall frames need larger lifts and more crew.

  • Whether The Building Is Running

Night and weekend phasing costs more than an empty slab, and it is usually worth it.

  • Anchoring Conditions

Post-tensioned or thin slabs change the anchor design.

  • Permits And Drawings

Stamped drawings and permit fees vary by jurisdiction.

  • Protection And Decking

Guards, decking and netting add material and labor.

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Does pallet racking have to be bolted to the floor?

Yes. RMI / ANSI MH16.1 calls for rack columns to be anchored to the floor, and manufacturers specify the anchor. An unanchored frame can shift when a truck strikes it, and the whole run is then carrying load out of plumb.

Do I need a permit to install pallet racking in Georgia?

Often, yes, but it depends on where the building is. Georgia leaves building and fire permits to the local jurisdiction, and each sets its own height and area thresholds. We confirm what applies during the proposal.

How long does installation take?

It depends on the number of positions, the height and whether the building is running. We give a schedule in the proposal and phase the work so the areas you are using stay open.
