Why Damaged Racking Needs an Inspection
Safety First
A racking upright hit by a forklift does not usually fail that day. It fails later, under a load it carried fine last week, and the failure is rarely limited to one bay. The inspection is inexpensive.
What We Do
Scope
Cranes and racking fail slowly before they fail suddenly. Worn hoist brakes, bent uprights and missing clips show up in a scheduled inspection long before they show up as a shutdown or an insurance finding.
We Service Equipment We Did Not Install
Any equipment
We inspect cranes and racking that other companies supplied, and the report is the same either way. We are not trying to sell you a replacement crane. If the finding is that it is serviceable, the report says so.
How an Inspection Visit Runs
Process
- 1. Equipment list. What you have, where it is and when it was last inspected.
- 2. Visit. Scheduled around your production, cranes and racking in one trip where possible.
- 3. Report. Findings with photographs, ranked by severity, against the standard each one is measured by.
- 4. Repairs. A quote for anything that needs fixing, and our crew to fix it.
Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
How often does OSHA require a crane inspection?
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.179 sets frequent and periodic inspection requirements, with periodic inspections at one to twelve month intervals depending on service severity. Normal service is generally annual, and heavy or severe service is more frequent.
What do I get?
A written report with photographs, findings ranked by severity, the standard each finding is measured against, and a quote for corrective work. Load test certification where a test is performed.
Can you set up a recurring schedule?
Yes. Most customers put cranes and racking on the same annual visit, so it is one interruption rather than two.
