What an Intelligent Lifting Device Is

Precision Control

A Gorbel G-Force is a servo-driven lifting device with a force-sensing handle. The operator pushes or pulls, the device measures the input, and the servo moves the load in the same direction at a proportional speed, positioning in one motion instead of the on/off corrections of a chain hoist.

Float mode holds the load in equilibrium, removing its weight from the operator's perception entirely. A part can be positioned with a fingertip, turning a two-person job into a one-person one.

  • What it is. A servo-powered lifting device the operator guides by hand. The device reads the force on the handle and moves with it.
  • What it is not. A hoist. A hoist goes up and down at a fixed speed when you press a button. This responds to the operator continuously.
  • Float mode. The load hangs weightless. The operator positions it with fingertips.
  • Where it earns its cost. High-frequency, high-precision lifts. The more lifts a shift, the faster it pays back.

Where These Earn Their Cost

ROI Conditions

A G-Force is the most expensive lifting device on the floor, and the economics only work under specific conditions. Five factors determine whether it pays for itself or sits underused.

  • High frequency

Dozens of lifts per shift, every shift. The per-lift saving is small; the annual saving is not.

  • Precision placement

Fitting into fixtures, aligning to tolerance, seating a part without impact.

  • High-value parts

Where a dropped or dinged component costs more than the device.

  • Ergonomic exposure

Where the current method generates strain and the injury risk is a real number on someone's spreadsheet.

  • Two-person tasks

The clearest case. If a lift currently takes two operators, and a G-Force makes it one, the payback is straightforward arithmetic

  • Variable load weights

Multiple part types at one station, where a chain hoist's fixed speed doesn't suit all of them equally.

G-Force and Easy Arm

System Compatibility

G-Force mounts on a workstation crane, a monorail, or a jib crane, it is the lifting device, and the crane is the positioning structure.

Easy Arm is an articulating jib arm designed specifically to carry a G-Force. It reaches around obstructions and into machine envelopes where a straight boom cannot, so it suits loading inside a machine rather than beside it.

  • Control. Servo, inline force-sensing handle
  • Float mode. Load held in equilibrium
  • Virtual limits. Programmable soft stops in software
  • Mounting. Workstation crane, monorail, jib, or Easy Arm
  • Tooling. Grippers, vacuum, custom end effectors

Demo & Install

These are worth seeing before buying. As an authorized Gorbel dealer we can arrange a demonstration, because the difference between reading about float mode and using it is considerable.

We specify the carrying structure, workstation crane, jib, monorail, or Easy Arm, along with the device and any below-the-hook tooling, and install the whole thing with our own crews

Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What does a G-Force cost?

Substantially more than a chain hoist of the same capacity, and the justification is the number of lifts per shift rather than the lift itself. If the station runs dozens of precision lifts a day, or if it currently takes two people, the math usually works

What can it mount on?

Workstation cranes, monorails, jib cranes, and Gorbel's Easy Arm articulating structure. The device and the structure are specified together.

What are virtual limits?

Programmable soft stops set in software rather than physical hardware, defining the safe operating envelope. When the process changes, they are reprogrammed instead of re-engineered.
