Particle Control, No Permanent Walls.
Need a Fast Clean Zone?
What a Softwall Cleanroom Is
In 30 Seconds
A softwall cleanroom is a controlled enclosure built from a rigid overhead frame supporting fan filter units, with clear vinyl curtains hanging to the floor. Filtered air is pushed down and escapes at the curtain edges, creating a swept clean zone, the fastest and least expensive way to establish a controlled environment.
The trade-off: curtains are not a seal. A softwall room reduces particle concentration but cannot hold a pressure differential the way a sealed envelope can.
- What it is. A cleanroom enclosure using a rigid frame with clear vinyl curtain walls and a filtered ceiling.
- What it achieves. Typically ISO 7 to ISO 8. Real particle reduction over a defined area.
- Why choose it. Fastest and cheapest way to put clean air over a process, and it moves when the process does.
- Its limit. Curtains leak. If you need pressure control, humidity control, or ISO 5, you need hardwall.
Softwall Systems
Clean Air Without a Permanent Room
A softwall enclosure is a curtain wall system, either PVC strip or a framed vinyl panel, that controls particulate around one process without the cost or lead time of hardwall construction. It goes up fast, moves when the line does, and comes down when the job is finished. It is not a substitute for hardwall everywhere. The sections below cover where a curtain enclosure is the right call and where the application demands a sealed room instead.

Right-Sized Advice
Softwall enclosures are the one product in this category we will happily quote at small scale - a single-bench enclosure is a legitimate project and often the right first step.
Because we also build hardwall cleanrooms and modular offices, we will tell you which one your requirement actually calls for rather than selling you the one we are holding.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions
What ISO class can a softwall cleanroom achieve?
Typically ISO 7 to ISO 8 with adequate filter coverage and air changes. ISO 5 and ISO 6 are impractical because the enclosure cannot hold the pressure relationships those classes depend on.
How fast can one be installed?
Hours to a couple of days for most enclosures, once the frame and filter units are on site. It is the fastest controlled environment available.
Can softwall be upgraded to hardwall later?
The frame and filter units often carry over; the curtains get replaced with rigid panels. Tell us during design if that is likely and we will specify a frame that accepts it.
How long do the curtains last?
Depends on traffic and environment. Clouding, tearing at the entry, and static pickup are the usual failure modes. Curtain replacement is inexpensive and expected - treat it as a consumable.
