About Us
Power and Motion was founded in 1991 in Acworth, north of Atlanta. Charlotte is about four hours up I-85 from Acworth, and the rest of the state is 235 to 365 miles away. North Carolina site visits are planned the week you call, and the installers on your job are our own employees, not a local subcontractor. One team measures the building, draws the layout, handles the permit and installs it.
Building In North Carolina
North Carolina Specifics
How North Carolina treats modular buildings. Factory-built modular buildings in North Carolina are regulated through the Department of Insurance, Office of State Fire Marshal. Manufacturers are approved by the state, and approved buildings carry a state label. This applies to standalone structures like guard booths and modular buildings set on a site.
In-plant work is permitted locally. Panelized offices and cleanrooms assembled inside an existing building are reviewed by your county or city building department like other interior work. In Charlotte that's Mecklenburg County; around the Triangle it's the county or city where the building sits. We confirm the path for your address during the proposal.
Where the work is. Distribution and logistics around Charlotte, life sciences and pharmaceutical manufacturing in the Research Triangle, and furniture, textile and general manufacturing across the Piedmont Triad.
Questions From North Carolina Buyers
FAQ
If your question isn't here, call the shop. We'd rather talk it through than have you guess.
Do you install in Charlotte and the Triangle?
Yes. Our own crews travel from Acworth, and we schedule the install around your production.
Does a modular office need a state label in North Carolina?
A standalone factory-built building does. An in-plant panel office assembled inside your existing building is usually reviewed through the local building permit instead.
Can you build an ISO 7 cleanroom inside a running plant?
How long does an in-plant office take?
Most single offices go up in days once panels are on site. Panel lead time and the permit set the overall schedule, and both are in the proposal.
What do you need to quote?
The address, the footprint, the clear height and what the space is for. Phone photos are enough to start.
