About Us
Power and Motion was founded in 1991 in Acworth, north of Atlanta. Birmingham is about two and a half hours west on I-20, and most of Alabama sits 120 to 305 miles from Acworth. Our own crews do the install, and the same team draws the layout and handles the permit.

How Alabama treats modular buildings. Factory-built modular buildings in Alabama are regulated by the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission. A modular building can't be installed in the state without a Commission insignia and data plate. Since April 2023, commercial modular plans are reviewed to the 2021 International Building Code, and anyone installing a modular building must be certified by the Commission.
In-plant work is permitted locally. Panelized offices and cleanrooms assembled inside an existing building are reviewed by the city or county building department as interior work. We confirm which path applies at your address before we quote.

Do you install in Birmingham and Huntsville?
Yes. Both are a planned day trip from Acworth, and our own crews do the install.
Does a modular building need an Alabama insignia?
A standalone factory-built building does, from the Alabama Manufactured Housing Commission, along with a data plate. An in-plant panel office assembled inside your existing building is usually permitted locally.
Who installs a standalone modular building in Alabama?
Can you build a cleanroom for aerospace or defense work?
Yes. Give us the class, temperature and humidity your program requires, and we design the room and its HVAC to hold them.
